I have been listening to the Once soundtrack a lot this week. Mostly because I went out and bought it on Monday. This is quite possibly the most beautiful group of songs I have ever heard on one CD. Each song has its own emotion behind it, but the entire soundtrack flows so well together.
This movie impressed my greatly because of its simplicity and honesty, but the music is what carries the movie for me. The music easily conveys the emotion that the director clearly wanted the audience to understand in each scene. One of my favorite phrases in the English language is “hauntingly beautiful.” That is the BEST way to explain this soundtrack, in my humble opinion. The music stays with you long after you have stopped listening to it. I have heard a lot of other music this week, since I spend most of my time at work with headphones one, but songs from Once are what I still hear in my head long after I have taken the headphones out. It haunts me all day long, like a friendly ghost with a great voice.
I have not written much since I started this blog, but that is the fault of that pesky thing called work. It should ease up soon, and I will be back to writing here. I have several ideas in my head, but none are fully formed yet. I would like to have some sort of weekly post, but I don’t know what it will be yet. Perhaps a review of whatever I have watched, listened to, or read lately. I will get back to you on this one.
In other news, the Texas primary is over. I did not manage to get out to vote (again, that pesky work thing), but I did like the fact that DFW voters were Obama fans, even if the rest of the state was not. Hopefully, we can get a clear Democratic candidate soon, so that people can have the opportunity to really learn about the various party/candidate differences before November.
I hope to write again soon, but for now, check out my links section. There are some good blogs by my friends and family. There are also a few blogs that I have enjoyed reading from time to time. And see the movie Once – trust me, you will not regret it!
